Marine Advanced First Aid

Marine Advanced First Aid

Designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to apply immediate first aid in the event of accident or illness on board a vessel. Participants will gain knowledge of marine first aid equipment, and the transferring of patients from a ship. All aspects of course are focused in a marine setting. Course meets the requirements of Transport Canada outlined in Transport Publication (TP) 13008E.

This course is designed for health care professionals with a requirement to learn and/or review basic ECG interpretation in preparation for a Heart and Stroke ACLS course and/or work in a clinical environment. Content includes related anatomy and physiology, components of the cardiac cycle, arrhythmias, therapies and electrical treatment.

CPR/AED

CPR Training and AED Training

After completion of this course, participants will have the knowledge and skills to apply the lifesaving skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and proper techniques used for a choking adult, child or baby. This CPR/AED course meets workplace safety and insurance board provincial/territorial legislation.

Stop the Bleed is an initiative of the American College of Surgeons and the Hartford Consensus that provides civilian bystanders the skills and basic tools to stop uncontrolled bleeding in an emergency situation and save lives.

This adventurous course is for those who have an interest in sharpening skills and strategies to provide extended care to those in need for up to 24 hours. A portion of this course is taught in an outdoor setting that requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training.

This in depth course, offers further discovery into the knowledge and skills required to provide lifesaving skills and assessments to those needing care at a professional level, including patient assessments, on-going care and transport to a healthcare facility. Course content follows the National Occupational Competency Profiles (NOCP) as defined by the Paramedic Association of Canada. The dynamic training in this course offers scenario based on real-life situations.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Course

Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Course     

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is a video-based, Instructor-led, advanced course, builds on the foundation of basic life support (BLS) skills. It emphasizes the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR and takes healthcare provider training to the next level- highlighting the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes.

Open to students who have a current BLS and ACLS. A valid BLS is required upon arrival at the course. Exceptions may be made for those who have expired ACLS certificates and are made on a case by case basis. Students have to obtain permission from the course instructor to attend.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course Ontario

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider course enables healthcare professionals to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to better recognize and treat critically ill infants and children. The course materials are scenario-based, and a team approach is used to teach emergency management of pediatric patients approaching or already in respiratory or cardiac arrest, from the early minutes through patient stabilization and/or the transport phases of a pediatric emergency, in or out of the hospital.

Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)

PEARS is the lifesaving solution for healthcare, and allied healthcare, professionals who may encounter pediatric emergencies or who infrequently see critically ill or injured infants and children. This new program provides the skills to deliver appropriate lifesaving interventions within the initial minutes, until the child is transferred to advanced life support.

International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Course

ITLS Provider includes 8 hours of classroom instruction, 8 hours of hands-on skills training, and testing for ITLS Basic or Advanced certification. Innovative skills stations let you practice the abilities appropriate for your level of certification.
